Chelsea Emery – Principal
Our Principal Chelsea Emery has been working solely in the area of Criminal and Traffic Law since 1999 when she commenced work with a specialist criminal law firm in Brisbane.
After managing the Sunshine Coast office of this specialist criminal law firm for six years Chelsea decided to commence her own practice in 2010.
Chelsea has obtained Specialist Accreditation in Criminal Law through the Queensland Law Society.
Chelsea is an experienced advocate who has successfully and vigorously conducted criminal litigation relating to a variety of criminal offences. Chelsea is committed to achieving the best possible outcome for her clients through the application of a strong work ethic as well as thorough preparation and planning. Chelsea’s motivation stems from an inherent need to see justice for all of her clients.
Chelsea has also worked as a Criminal Law Lecturer at the University of the Sunshine Coast and is regularly invited to speak to the profession in relation to Domestic Violence and Criminal Law matters.
Rachel Tallon has been with Chelsea Emery & Associates working as a Law Clerk since 2013. Rachel regularly appears before the Magistrates, District and the Supreme Court. Rachel’s outstanding listening skills allows client’s to explain their situation thoroughly ensuring that the best defence strategy is formed. Rachel is passionate about obtaining the best result for all clients. Rachel’s thorough and leave no stone unturned mentality ensures that every avenue is addressed to guarantee the best representation. Rachel has assisted in preparing countless serious criminal matters.
Rachel’s persuasive written communication skills has seen her successfully assist in the negotiation and withdrawal of an array of criminal charges. Rachel also uses these skills when preparing convincing and logical affidavits to be used in court.
Rachel understands that facing a criminal charge can be an extremely stressful time. Rachel’s strong interpersonal skills help relieve some of the stress that clients may be facing.
Rachel is in the final year of her studies of Bachelor of Laws at the Queensland University of Technology and expects to be admitted into the legal profession in the near future.

Matt Cooper has been working as a Law Clerk at Chelsea Emery & Associates since 2016. Matt has gained valuable experience by appearing in various Magistrates and District Courts throughout South-East Queensland. Matt has a particular interest in criminal law and has worked in the area his whole career.
Matt graduated from The University of the Sunshine Coast with a Bachelor of Laws in November 2017 and graduated from The College of Law with a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice in April 2018. Matt was admitted to practice as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of Queensland in June 2018.
Matt strives to formulate the strongest arguments to ensure that all clients receive the best representation possible and in turn receive the best result possible. He has a strong belief in the criminal justice system and believes that with the right representative justice can be achieved for all involved. Throughout his time at Chelsea Emery & Associates Matt has helped deal with various criminal charges including rape, trafficking in dangerous drugs and arson.
